I'm an electronics engineer, involved in health education. My wife, Rae, is a nursing sister and we support each other in our work. I have two children, Ruth (married to Brendan; I have gained a son :-)) and Jonathan (an aspiring pilot).

For the nature lovers, this is Saalkop (Saddle Hill) near Bethlehem. We lived close to it and went there for many a walk and for a few picnics. There is a dam to the right and behind it where we canoed and Jonathan went fly fishing. It is one of the few homes of the bald ibis (wild turkey) in South Africa. We moved from there to Maluti Adventist Hospital on 5 May 2009.

Having tried to start a blog spot in June last year soon after arriving here in May, I am a little embarrased to make my first entry now. However, we have to start somewhere and sometime. And as the saying goes, there no better place and time than "here and now".
Maluti Adventist Hospital is a place with many challenges, opportunities and privileges. Besides the variety of work demands, there is the beautiful people that one meets (both local and international) and the beautiful scenery one is surrounded with.
What started out as volunteer work has moved to a contract to assist the hospital with its protection & optimization of electrical and water systems and improving the communications system. Once I moved here, the portfolio expanded to include, wiring of new buildings and installing LV ABC cables.
Making friends with the local people and also the orphans and vulnerable children is also very rewarding.
I am grateful to God Who is the One that has been working behind the scenes, for, in and through all things that has brought me here and helping me through it all. The one thing I appreciate immensely is the kind and considerate treatment one receives from the leadership of the hospital from the superintendent to the first line managers. Also the friendly smiles and greetings from the nursing students and children on campus.

About Me
- FIELD Applications Engineer
- That I am alive today is a miracle, a testimony to Divine mercy, love and intervention in health issues, spiritual matters and daily activities. Turned sceptic at age of 5. Faith in God restored at Stellenbosch University by Jesus in the lecture halls of evolutionists and out in nature on the surrounding mountains. My dream in my teens was to be a racing yacht designer until Jesus asked me to give Him my dream. I did ... finally, about 3 years later. My life has taken many twists and turns. God has kept His promise that He will be with me through it all. What a Precious Friend is He!
